Community Involvement

Rotary International

Reid is a proud member of The Rotary Club of Metropolitan Honolulu. The Metro Rotary Club works to spread the concept of "Service Above Self" through its numerous community service projects and scholarship programs. Rotarians attempt to apply the 4 Way Test in every part of their lives.

                   FOUR WAY TEST
Of all the things we think, say and do.
                    -Is it the Truth?
-Is it Fair to all concerned?
-Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships?
-Will it be beneficial to All Concerned?

Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii

Reid is the VP of Communications for  The Alliance Board for the Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii.  The Alliance is an energetic and caring group of young professionals dedicated to providing program support, mentoring services, fund raising capabilities, and community liaison for the Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii and its staff and club members. They're 2010 Youth of the Year Luncheon at the Hawaii Prince Hotel helped raise over $20,000.

 The Honolulu Professionals Foundation

Inspired by his Rotary club to give back, Reid, along with the help and input of close friends founded The Honolulu Professionals Foundation. HPF is a fun group of growing professionals dedicated to building a lasting positive legacy in the community through strategic partnerships and giving. Their most recent projects were fundraising for The Sunshine Kids, helping The Family Programs Hawaii with their Holiday Party, and raising money for The Hawaii High School Athletic Association (HHSAA).

The Sunshine Kids is a non-profit organization dedicated to children with cancer. Its focus is primarily dedicated to providing activities, trips, and events for young cancer patients. In June 2009, HPF held their fundraiser at Kanpai Bar & Grill benefiting The Sunshine Kids.

For the Holiday Party, Family Programs Hawaii fed over 2,000 foster youth and their families at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.  The party featured activities including games and face painting, along with song and dance programs, and a hearty holiday meal.

In 2009 due to the recent economic downturn, HHSAA faced severe budget cuts. HHSAA's executive director Keith Amemiya organized the "Save Our Sports" fund to raise money to offset those cuts. Working with Keith and HHSAA, Reid & HPF raised over $12,000 for HHSAA's Save Our Sports fund at Bonsai Restaurant Hawaii in January 2010.
