Reid Matsushima has been a lifetime resident of Kailua. Reid is a 2001 graduate of Punahou School. He has a sister named Gail who works in the marketing industry. His parents are Harris and Karen Matsushima. His father Harris played football for the University of Hawaii.

Growing up, he spent a lot of time with his family and friends by playing sports. Reid enjoys anything pertaining to sports whether it's watching, attending, or playing it with friends. He specifically enjoys baseball, golf, and football. Reid considers himself a baseball purist and a big San Francisco 49ers fan. Reid actively plays in several community softball and baseball leagues year round. He has also taken up golf recently, which he confesses has already become and will be a life long passion. When he's not playing sports or with his family, Reid enjoys spending his time relaxing with friends over a barbeque.
